- Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e., food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.
Job Summary:
Copper Mountain is looking for an entry level Human Resources Specialist. The right applicant for this position will be professional with excellent guest service skills, initiates tasks and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You must be able to perform a variety of clerical duties, as well as manage employee uniforms in order to assist in a productive and efficient department:
- Initiate and process all employee and resident paperwork following state and federal regulations.
- Track the issuance and return of all employee uniform items, as well as launder those uniforms.
- Develop strong working relationships with company supervisors and management.
- Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information such as wage data, EEO information, and other personal material contained in employee files.
- Able to stay focused on administrative projects and complete timely and accurately.
- Is reliable; must be on time and ready to work by the scheduled start time everyday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Is able to shift attention quickly or attend to more than one task at a time, such as
- Searching a database while listening to an employee
- Can print hire packet while building rapport with new employee
- Take contact information from someone on the phone and follow-up at a later time if you have a line in front of you.
- Is professional and focused on solutions when a customer is frustrated; independently resolves conflicts before they escalate
- When faced with a question/problem you are unsure of, begin the conversation with "Let me find out for you." or "What I can do for you is..."
- Is committed to creating a positive experience out of every interaction with our employees and guests
- Answers the phone within 2 rings and directs calls in a timely and proficient manner. Is patient, courteous and helpful to all callers
- Use guest/employees' name in every conversation

- Offers local information (how to use Summit Stage, where to get international calling cards, how to get to first day of work, etc.) to all employees, with a specific focus on building comfort for the international employees.
- Adjust manner of explaining hire packet to match the employee you're interacting with. Is sensitive to other peoples' needs/styles/differences as far as explanations, information sharing, communications, and listening.
- Distribute uniforms to all Copper Mountain Resort employees, insuring they maintain a professional image
- Track the issue and return of all uniform items using the appropriate computer program
- Track the issue and return of all uniform items using the Copper Uniform Agreement, to make sure that they are documented and filed correctly
- Communicate with Laundry to ensure timely and appropriate recorded cleaning of all uniform items
- Receive and stock all uniform items returned from laundry
- Assists with laundering of all uniforms as needed
- Produce and distribute nametags within 24 hours of request
- Handles questions and concerns regarding industry pro deals
- Maintain a secure work environment and strive to prevent loss
- Educate employees on our policies with damage and lost item charges
- Set the example of proper grooming and appearance standards
- Processes any warranty returns/mailings with uniform partners
- Stays busy with little direction. Initiate projects, be a self-starter, productivity regardless of supervision
- Ensure all work areas are locked when not in use and at the end of every shift before clocking out
- Has good cash handling skills
- Ability to process US currency, credit card, check and payroll deduction transactions following our accounting reporting guidelines
- Distributes all daily closing reports and internal and external mail in a timely and appropriate manner according to our standard operating procedure
- Actively participate in company meetings, trainings, and orientations to ensure success
- Maintains the EDGE Meeting Rooms
- Schedules and responds to all calendar requests by end of business
- Ensures rooms are clean, organized and locked after meetings

Accuracy
- Learns quickly and applies new information on the job
- Exhibits flexibility and accuracy in a variety of documents, letters, memos, and forms asked to create for the department
- Gains a working knowledge of insurance options and which employees apply for company coverage within the first one month of employment
- Effectively create and maintain personnel files, miscellaneous paperwork, and Federal documents for both active and separated employees
- Understanding of where to look for employee information (i.e. Original Date of Hire, Rate of Pay, Position, etc.) within ADP and other records within first month of employment
- Ensures I9 documents presented are valid
- Daily processing of new hire, re-hire, return to work and reactivation employee PDF's in accordance with the guidelines in Front Desk manual within 1 month of hiring
- Accurate tracking of spontaneous recognition vouchers and Playmaker recognition program and distribution of prizes for these awards
- Ability to successfully complete Employment Verification requests and Unemployment claims with a full understanding of our policy surrounding the release of this information within 1 month of hire
- Knows and complies with all company policies, regulations, and laws relevant to own job
- Validates I9 online and paper form as per the requirements outlined by the Department of Homeland Security
- Clear understanding that no advice as to deductions, withholdings or status can be given for the W-4 form
- Checks that all hire paperwork is filled out completely
- Operates with a full understanding of the Real Deal and other exchange programs within 1 month of starting work - including but not limited to distribution and tracking of vouchers, supporting participating resorts with questions, and communicating policy to employees
- Use CopperLink as your tool to refer employees with questions about policies
- Only issues employee passes to individuals within our appearance guidelines
- Takes a centered and appropriate photo and is comfortable in communicating our appearance guidelines
- Uses accurate information from relevant sources when making decisions
- Utilize information in Front Desk manual to provide overall guidance to employees, and ensure that information is updated on a regular basis
- Issue correct passes to employees and dependents (i.e., consulting guidelines in regards to Longevity/Lifetime pass holders, issuing dependent passes with proper documentation, on-call, etc.)
- Follows plans to achieve work objectives and adapts when priorities change
- Ensures all phone and outgoing email messages are current and with relevant business information
- Sets email out of office message for days off and office closure on all email accounts as appropriate
- Updates all Employee Experience and Gear Up phone messages based on any changes

- Consistently follows employee issues through to resolution, overcoming challenges and getting assistance as needed
- Follow up with leaders in regards to incomplete paperwork and ensures it is completed by the Friday before payroll and/or within 3 days of starting the job

Basic Requirements:

Preferred Experience and Special Skills:
- High School Diploma
- Bachelor or Associates Degree in HR-related field preferred
- 1-2 years office/clerical experience, preferably within a payroll and/or HR environment
- Knowledge of ADP, TimeSaver, RTP & Microsoft Office
- Conversational Spanish
- Be accountable for daily station open/closing: floats, cash-out monies, and closing reports - including taking the time to resolve any over/short closing issues and providing any necessary back-up for daily transactions.
- Minimum 2 years cash-handling experience
