Location:
This position is located in Raleigh, NC. Remote working options for candidates based in US will be considered. The candidate must be prepared to travel up to 10% of the time in North America.
The Role:
PSC is looking for technically oriented enthusiast consultants with 1 to 5 years of experience relevant to power systems studies to join our team of passionate professionals. The candidates’ primary expertise should be in power system analysis and studies that model the behavior of power systems and their various components under steady state and perturbed conditions.
The power system studies consultant will conduct a variety of assignments under the supervision of Senior or Principal Engineers including but not limited to:
- Classical power system analysis & modeling including load flow, transient stability, short circuit analysis, and small signal assessments.
- Power generation and transmission studies such as System Impact Studies for interconnection of renewable and conventional generation, voltage stability, energy studies, insulation coordination, feasibility, and deliverability studies, harmonic analysis, power station and control system design, and network planning.
- Operations planning including short-term assessments, switching studies, and incident investigations.
- Steady-state and transient model development, testing, and field validation of the performance of generator control models
- Preparation of long-term, multi-scenario network development plans
- Preparation of detailed technical reports
- Global interaction with PSC colleagues to coordinate and execute studies.
- Manage client expectations through regular communications and responsiveness.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1 to 5 years of experience in steady-state, and dynamic system studies using PSS®E, PSLF, PowerWorld, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and DSATools, or similar power networks simulation software.
- Registered professional engineer in a US state, or eligible to become so.
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering is required with a preference for a specialization in power systems.
- Doctorate degree in power systems would be an asset (or equivalent expertise developed through extensive experience in power system modeling).
- Legally authorized to work in US with no restrictions on travel within North America.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel, occasionally working evenings and weekends as needed for special assignments.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At PSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $ $84,431 to $148,362.
