Why Powin for your Internship? 

The Data Science Internship at Powin provides a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of energy storage technology. Powin is a global leader in energy storage, combining hardware and software expertise to build and deploy cost-effective, safe, and scalable battery storage systems. The Data Team leads all data science efforts at Powin, writing and maintaining software for product and market optimization, system health analysis, and predictive maintenance, among other initiatives. As a Data Science Intern, you will collaborate with other data scientists and developers to contribute directly to the Data Team’s portfolio, through telemetry analysis, machine learning, and visualization. 

 Job Duties:  

• Conduct analysis of battery storage telemetry, interpreting relevant patterns and trends to internal stakeholders 
• Conduct machine learning experimentation across the development lifecycle, from conception through testing and final conclusions, to identify opportunities for improvement to Powin’s control systems and software 
• Support development of key analytics applications, including dashboards, pipelines, and operations and maintenance tools 
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

• Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree, with a focus in computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related discipline 
• Proficiency with Python or R 
• Proficiency with SQL preferred 
• Proficiency with large-scale data processing tools, such as Apache Spark, preferred 
• Proficiency with core data science techniques, such as machine learning and statistical analysis 
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with both in-office and remote colleagues 
• Strong communication skills, including an ability to effectively convey findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders  
• Interest in the energy industry and sustainability

Compensation for this position is commensurate with location, experience and relevant skills.​ The national Average Base Salary Range is $23.00/hr.-$25.00/hr. Additional Benefits include coverage under the Company's health and welfare plan and 401k plan. Flexible Work Arrangements and more.
