What are the responsibilities and job description for the LIMS Business Analyst position at PPG Careers Careers?
As a LIMS Business Analyst, you will collaborate with business departments or teams to clarify and communicate requirements, assuring products and services are aligned with needs as it pertains to use of our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) including Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), Chemical Inventory Management (CIM), and Analytical Management System (AMS). You will act as business or function specialist within LIMS, providing an array of services such as business process improvement, priority-setting facilitation, project definition or design, and broker IT and contract services.
Key Responsibilities
• Knowledge of practices, policies, and procedures in their area. Varied responsibilities with moderately complex problem solving, independent analysis, and decision-making skills
• Experience using technology in managing a business/function process
• Previous experience in business process re-engineering or process improvement is desirable, involving broad based information systems and using tools and techniques to effect business change
• Develop detailed technical LIMS specifications based on functional requirements for enhancements.
• Work with LabVantage consultants to understand and resolve technical issues affecting integrations, deployment, or performance
• Follow PPG’s IT project methodology throughout the project lifecycle.
• Experience with end-to-end flows within their LIMS domain/module (or a comparable technology) including customizing options to keep within LIMS standards as well master data requirements)
• In-depth knowledge and experience in gathering requirements, functional design, testing and working with business processes
• Strong technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to the business
• Track record of participation on multidiscipline, work teams/groups
• Ability to solve problems spanning multiple environments in a business area
• Ability to communicate with all management levels
• Ability to be comfortable in a nonhierarchical, flat organization and, if required, operate under a dual reporting relationship; ability to thrive in a somewhat unstructured hands-on environment that demands a consultative approach and solutions that span multiple environments in a business area
• Networks with other PPG Analysts to understand how IT solutions are deployed in other areas to solve business problems
• Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly to develop effective working relationships across a diverse team of functional, technical, and business partners
• Experience with technical solutions available to deliver process modifications when non-standard flow is required
• Possess strong problem-solving skills and able to work independently to develop evaluated options to deliver business solutions.
• Proficient customizing abilities and detailed master data knowledge within the domain / module.
• Project Management Skills - ability to manage small to medium projects independently.
Qualifications
• A four-year degree or higher in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, a related discipline, or equivalent experience
• Min 4 years of IT or a related discipline experience
• Strong Analytical and conceptual skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
• Must have a systems and process orientation
• Must be comfortable working remotely using virtual means of collaborating with colleagues and managers
• Experience with participation on IT project team
• Possess the ability to foster the development of junior team members
