What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Manager position at PPG Careers?

As the Plant Manager, you will establish and implement plans to meet corporate wide objectives; and communicate vision for long-term success to plant personnels.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Tracks financial data to ensure budgets and Profit and Loss goals meet plan.
  • Prepares, provides, and presents financial data on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Ensures monthly metrics (safety, quality, productivity) are met or adequate actions are in place to ensure goals will be met.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Maintains a customer relationship that ensures quality, service and pricing criteria are to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Works in conjunction with Human Resources to develop and maintain a team, handle disciplinary issues, and assists with hiring of key positions.
  • Manages several subordinate managers and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in management, engineering or related field OR High school diploma/GED and ten (10) years of progressive plant leadership experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
  • Five (5) years of progressive plant leadership experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
  • Demonstrated success in a leadership and team building role, with the ability to develop direct reports
