What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Rep, Lead position at PPG Industries?
As a Technical Service Representative, you will support painting operations used at an Automotive Tier I supplier Magna-Mirrors customer plant in Newaygo, Michigan. You will work directly with a team at improving the performance of PPG products and the Customer’s paint application and quality output! Do you enjoy coordinating systems and processes and initiating problem solving resolutions directly at the customer location? This role effectively connects with all levels, in both the PPG and customer organizations!
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the customer on-site to ensure PPG products meet customer quality and performance requirements and expectations.
- With your understanding of color evaluation, color adjustments, and paint application, will work within a small team to support PPG and Magna-Newaygo.
- Develop close working relationships with PPG laboratory development personnel, technical service organization, engineering/color contacts, commercial, and customer personnel to ensure a team service approach and improved sales position. Provide timely resolution to customer inquiries by providing on-site, hands-on support at this customer facility.
- Continue personal growth through appropriate training and development opportunities. Maintain an understanding of pigments, raw materials (vehicle formulation or chemistries) and coatings technology to ensure development of accurate solutions to field issues.
- Support the technical sales and service functions through assisting in technical presentations, product line trials and necessary post trial documentation and communications. Collaborate with APAD Customer Team and Service Managers to train and support Service Reps on New Product Technologies, ensuring Service Team personnel are involved at appropriate stages for planned new product launches.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; Bachelors degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in paints/coatings development, or paint robotics or mix room.
