Job Description Summary: Job Description Summary What do you need to know about the role As a Senior Software Engineer on the Enterprise Data Platform team, you will be responsible for design, architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable and available software which pivots the evolution of our current to the next generation platform for our PayPal Inc Big Data platform teams and transformational cloud journey for all data services and engineering of PayPal Inc (PayPal, Braintree and so on…). You will be making key technology decisions, building & maintaining large production grade distributed systems that handle petabyte scale, providing delightful experience for PayPal and Braintree customers, merchants, brainstorming innovative ideas to help our stakeholders resolve their day-to-day problems, and helping mentor engineers. Job Description: Your day to day Build innovative, self-serviceable and scalable platforms and orchestration services to facilitate Big Data migration to public cloud in the multi-year journey of PayPal cloud journey with its subsidiaries. Anchor major team workstreams to build and improve large-scale distributed systems, grow the scale of our platform, reduce complexity, increase automation and burn down technical debt. Develop solutions for PayPal, Braintree merchants and data analytics users’ needs with an eye towards self-service products backed by efficient operations Mentor other software engineers as a tech lead of the team Induce best practices of coding, design and reusability. Effectively participate in code reviews. Build key components of our platform via pair programming with other engineers Setup practices to ensure the highest levels of operational resiliency Collaborate with leadership, peers and customers to effectively deliver solutions and projects  Support production systems (Team rotation based) What do you need to bring 6 years of experience in software engineering, technical leadership of the team of developers Design and Operational Experience with large scale production grade distributed systems Experience in one or more of the following: React, Golang Good to have: Python and shell scripting Good Linux skills and understanding of operating systems Experience building and maintaining large distributed systems, software on one of the major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) Experience in orchestration systems like that of Airflow, Argo. Good To Have: (Don’t worry if you don’t have these skills. You can always learn these skills after joining us) Server-side software development experience Experience in managing big-data infrastructure at petabyte scale Data Analytics background to understand our stakeholders Understanding of AWS and GCP technologies Experience with Docker and Kubernetes Experience in workflow engines / schedulers like Airflow, Argo Experience with monitoring/logging tools and best practices Test-driven development (TDD) We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates.
