Position Summary: Provides leadership for the processes, systems, preparation and disbursement for the US payroll and consults with Global HR regarding global payroll. Supervises the payroll team and is responsible for ensuring that all payroll-related processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. Operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve payroll related issues. Continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives with minimal direction. Manages effective internal and external client relationships for the company. Oversees payroll processes for US workforce, ensuring all applicable taxes, deductions and contributions are processed in a timely manner according to the payroll calendars and regulations. Responsible for the accurate preparation and filing of required reports and/or payments to government agencies, insurance carriers, etc. Manages the reconciliations of US payroll, including but not limited to child support, levies, garnishments, and assisting with GL balancing. Process accurate and timely year-end reporting for the US workforce (W-2, W-2c, etc.) Manages the Workday Payroll and Time Management applications to ensure policies and regulations are followed; lead semiannual software testing to ensure critical path processes work as expected and information from other teams is processed as expected in payroll Responsible for maintaining 3rd party vendor relationships for payroll related functions Maintain and manage Company SOX controls in partnership with the SOX Compliance & Financial Controls Team Identifies process improvement initiatives and defines/documents standards for new processes Approve reconciled quarterly and annual payroll tax files for further processing by external 3rd party service provider Audits data and processes on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and compliance Partner with other support areas, including but not limited to: HR, Finance, Internal Audit, Operations and General Counsel. Responds to complex questions/requests for information relating to payroll policies and procedures Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of assigned team, including hiring, coaching and developing payroll team members Supports team in back-up role for time off and/or high-volume work efforts Facilitates team meetings and participates in departmental meetings as the SME and assists with and/or leads special projects Professional Experience/Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent experience with a H.S. Diploma required Minimum of 6 years multi-state payroll processing in a high-volume environment Certified Payroll Professional preferred. Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end pay processes Thorough knowledge in payroll tax laws, regulatory and financial requirements. Experience with the management of outsourced payroll services Experience working with tax reciprocity regulations and garnishment guidelines Experience with equity and benefits, as they relate to payroll Experience with payroll systems; Workday payroll systems preferred Global payroll experience preferred Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to document and organize standard operating procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
