Summary:

This Administrative Assistant assures a supportive role in the daily operation of the Head Start/Early Head Start/Childcare programs providing assistance to all staff. This position establishes and maintains positive relationships with community members, staff and clients in person, email, newsletters or through telephone calls. In addition, this position assists throughout the center in the classrooms, kitchen or on the bus.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience: Six months to two years of previous experience as an administrative assistant or in a similar setting. Must have experience working with grants, in-kind contributions, Purchase Order submissions, timesheet editing, and data collection.

Education: A high school diploma or state GED. Willing to acquire a Commercial Driver's License and Child Development Associate Certification (CDA), First Aid and CPR certification within one year of hire.

Interpersonal Skills: Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (students, visitors, or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

Knowledge:

o Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
o Knowledge in computer software applications such as Microsoft Office, and Microix Timekeeping and POs.
o Knowledge of how to manage time, organize and problem-solve.
o Knowledge of structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
o Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and common courtesy rules of engagement.
