THIS POSITION IS WORKING IN OUR PSYCHIATRIC RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT FACILITY (PRTF) WITH ADOLSCENTS AGED 11-17
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the nursing care of the patients and is to be clinically competent; the delivery of care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention / implementation, and evaluation; and effectively interacts with patients, families, and health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Graduate from accredited program of nursing education; BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree preferred but not required; current Registered Nurse license with Kansas State Board of Nursing required
- Minimum Experience: Two years in psychiatric nursing preferred
- Must maintain Kansas State licensure and appropriate CEUs
- Must remain current with CPR license
- Must remain current with CPI training
- Must have good command of the English language; must be able to read, communicate clearly and therapeutically with patients and staff, both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner
- Must have the ability to quickly access data, assimilate printed and electronic information, make decisions and judgements in emergent situations, and respond appropriately.
- Must be able to observe and interact in a positive, non-judgmental, non-reactive manner with patients, family members, patient caregivers, and staff
- Must be able to observe patient demeanor and non-verbal communication for assessment purposes
- Must have knowledge about medications and their side effects, or at least the ability to obtain the information quickly.
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently
- Must be willing to have some flexibility in scheduling, to meet patient and organization needs
- Must be able to stand (agile) and to sit at a desk for periods of up to two hours
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to kneel, bend, squat, and hold on to a person, in order to restrain an out-of-control patient
- Must be able to communicate effectively with referral sources and other treatment providers
- Must be proficient at basic keyboarding / word-processing skills
- Must be able to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen, the Central Registry Screen for both adults and children, as well as the DCF (Kansas Department for Children & Families) background check
