Acts as agent of the company in the purchase of supplies, materials, equipment, and services for plants within the company. This activity must be conducted within Procurement and Company policies and procedures to meet or exceed plant quality production goals in a timely manner at the least overall use cost. This position reports to a Purchasing Manager or Supply Chain Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work or be authorized to receive controlled information under a specific license or permission from the relevant government agency. The U.S. export control regulations define a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), and certain categories of Asylees and Refugees.

Job Description
Acts as agent of the company in the purchase of supplies, materials, equipment, and services for plants within the company. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Initiates and coordinates purchase contract negotiations with officers and representatives of supplier and company end users.
- Inventory management utilizing ERP reporting.
- Data entry and management of inventory part numbers, costs and relative approved suppliers.
- Identifies and eliminates obsolete and excess inventories.
- Interacts directly with suppliers to establish and/or maintain system planning parameters (lead times, standard packaging sizes, promise date management, etc.).
- Develops and implements strategies to optimize supply chain performance, recognizing total cost implications.
- Compiles and analyzes statistical data to evaluate price/cost conditions.
- Engages end users in complex negotiations.
- Works to optimize supply base size.
- Initiates request for quotations; recommends and takes appropriate action.
- Maintains records and documentation to assure compliance with corporate policy and procedure.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Resolves discrepancies that arise such as discrepant pricing, warranty claims, failure to comply with specifications, over shipments, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis in business administration, economics and/or engineering or 5 years relevant experience in purchasing/supply chain and materials control in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems with a proven track record of inventory accuracy improvement.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks concurrently within pre-determined time, quality and cost objectives.
- Understanding of procurement policies, procedures, and practices.
- Understanding of purchasing law, Uniform Commercial Code, and terms and conditions.
- Willingness to work toward professional development as need arises.
- Ability to maintain composure in high stress situations with suppliers, peers and customers.
- Ability to work extended hours as need arises.
