Position Summary:
The Laboratory Assistant role will be responsible for shipping/receiving, inventory control of reagents and lab supplies, and performing equipment maintenance to support Operations and Facilities team.
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate, perform, and track reagent inventory using appropriate reagent database
- Daily inventory control of all reagents in refrigerators, -20C/-80C freezers within the site
- Daily/Weekly/Monthly Maintenance on specified lab equipment
- Respond to freezer alarms in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Monitor freezers, refrigerator and room temperatures as assigned by Manager
- Perform or coordinate routine maintenance for laboratory equipment
- Daily/Weekly/Monthly Maintenance on specified lab equipment
- Order, inventory, and receipt of laboratory reagents and supplies
- Perform weekly and monthly inventory for laboratory supplies and stocking the lab
- Perform internal receiving process as assigned by manager
- Verify shipment contents against packing list and file documentation
- Label reagent vials and perform verification following SOP guidelines
- Store at appropriate temperature following guidelines set by procedures
- Distribute materials, upload relevant documents, and record in appropriate database
- Follow SOPs for scientific and operational purposes with guidance
- Carry out other duties/projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent education
- 2 years of general working experience
Other Required:
- Must be proficient using Microsoft office and Outlook email
- Working knowledge of mail processes such as postage machine, Fedex, and UPS
- Understands inventory and purchasing concepts
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, quickly respond to issues that arise, and appropriately escalate problems to management as required
- Requires good attention to detail, excellent documentation skills and willingness to work well in a group environment
- Must be a flexible agile team player who can change activities and directions quickly and respond to a variety of assignment and changing business needs
- Ability to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20ºC -196ºC)
- Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language
Preferred:
- 6 months - 1 year of inventory experience
- 1-2 years of relevant lab experience
- Basic laboratory skills
