Product Development Manager

The role of the product development manager is to plan and develop new goods for use by the public or special interest groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Product Development Manager

  • Research and monitor existing client base and industry development and identify potential new product opportunities.
  • Create a prototype of a new product to iron out flaws in the final design.
  • Determine the process for creating a new item.
  • Gather the raw materials necessary to build or create the product being developed.
  • Perform research to determine the best way to produce a particular item.
  • Prepare reports on the various procedures that have been tried to eliminate methods that are unsuccessful.
  • Oversee product development amongst a team of individuals.
  • Present new ideas to corporate executives to gain permission to develop product lines.
  • Prepare cost analysis on the development of a new product.
  • Create marketing campaigns designed to inform people about new product availability.
  • Research patents, copyrights, and trademarks to make sure there are no infringement issues involved.
  • Ensure that every phase of a particular project proceeds as scheduled.
  • Make adjustments to development plans whenever the current idea is not working well.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and determine the cause of a plan’s success or failure
  • Stay current with the latest trends in merchandise
  • Keep up to date with changes in the market and technology that would affect new product development
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree

5 Years of Experience in Product development

Salary-Negotiable with Bonus opportunity based on Sales and profit of the product

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $73,426.00 - $79,980.00 per year
