Position Overview
Performs various manual tasks as a general laborer to assist in unloading railcars and upkeep of rail terminal facility. Fosters teamwork, positive work environment and overall safety of self and others.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Follow directions of Lead Rail or Area Manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each terminal site.
- Utilize shovels, brooms, and hand tools to unload railcars and maintain terminal site.
- Utilize lawn mower, weed eater, and other landscaping tools/equipment to maintain facility.
- Utilize hand tools and equipment to perform preventative maintenance on terminal equipment and machinery.
- May be asked to operate heavy equipment and/or company vehicles with proper training and/or certification.
- Enroll in and complete CYD’s Conductor Certification program to achieve Rail Specialist Certification to assist in train movements.
- Sets the example by following & promoting all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with subordinates, peers and superiors.
- Must be able to maintain an acceptable attendance record in a flexible work schedule.
- Must maintain at all times a strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
- Must be available to travel and work from other company facilities as needed.
- Must possess a professional attitude while interacting with peers, contractors and general public.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily according to Conrad Yelvington Distributors guidelines and standards.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Related experience, including construction or other physical labor, is preferred.
Work Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check and driving record review.
- Must be willing to work flexible schedule including: nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays when necessary.
- Must be legally authorized to work in The United States.
- Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Valid Driver’s License preferred.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Frequently required to lift, carry, push or pull up to 35 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
- Required to work outside in Florida weather including heat, humidity, cold, and rain.
- Primarily located outdoors.
- Requires constant walking and standing, occasional sitting
- Vision: Requires depth perception, near/far vision, color visio
- Hearing: Adequate hearing ability to communicate with co-workers and supervisor face to face and via two way radio.
- Speech: Ability to adequately articulate and communicate with customers, supervisors, and coworkers face to face and via two way radio.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
