What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Preferred Sands?
Purpose of the Position Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the plant’s business goals and objectives.
Essential Functions
Perform highly diversified duties to maintain plant equipment.
Provide emergency/ unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
Share on-call responsibilities with the department. Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situation to proper supervision.
Comply with MSHA regulations and maintain safe, clean and orderly work areas. Follow safe work practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Perform work in accordance with all applicable State and Federal mining laws.

Job Specification (Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities).
Experience in a CMMS system is preferred.
Knowledge of computer programs to include MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
Electrical: Read and interpret electrical drawings, rebuilds motor starters, wires motors, troubleshoots and performs maintenance on 480 V and 13 kv systems, and lighting circuits.
Instrumental: PLC programming experience, knowledge of NFPA code requirements for burners, calibration of pressure transmitters and thermocouples, troubleshooting 4-29 ma dc and 3-15 psi control circuits, and calibration of DP transmitters.
Millwright skills including lubrication, alignment of motors and equipment of direct and belt drive, vibration monitoring, rebuilds pumps, replaces bearings and shaft conveyors, rebuilds and troubleshoots hydraulic systems.
Other: Rigging, staging, piping, and equipment replacement.
Certified Electrician.
AWS Certified Welder.
