As a Manager of Applications Development, you will manage an agile team of developers, testers, and analysts in the design, testing, implementation, and maintenance of critical systems at Premera. By closely collaborating with your peers, you will provide leadership to multiple agile (Kanban and Scrum) technical teams. In this role you will interact with employees at all levels across the organization. What you'll do: Hire, mentor, coach, and manage a team of engineers to deliver on short and long-term organizational goals Guide and collaborate with the engineering team throughout the entire product/service life cycle from ideation, design, build, test, deploy as well as the ongoing run, grow, and transform activities Identify and execute on opportunities to mature SecDevOps engineering practices through automation, continuous code deployment, and integrated security Drive continuous improvement by advocating for modern engineering practices such as configuration/infrastructure as code and automated testing to provide consistency, quality, and reduced time to market Drive your team with a relentless 'Focus on Customer' - always looking for ways to improve the customer experience Lead with an ownership and data-driven mentality with a focus on monitoring and instrumenting all aspects of application, services, and infrastructure Communicate effectively with teams across the enterprise by fostering an open and collaborative environment at all levels Continually reassess and challenge the status quo and drive for innovative solutions Keep abreast of technical best practices and standards while being a champion for change and adoption of new processes and technologies Identify, plan, and execute technical priorities relevant to the life cycle management of the teams' products and services Resolve impediments and align priorities with teams across the enterprise as well as with external groups and partners Act as technical and business expert sharing knowledge and expertise on business case development, Requests for Proposal (RFP), and vendor negotiation activities Ensure that team adheres to Premera's System/Software/Secure Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile Practices, and Engineering Standards Manage multiple deliverables and partner across the enterprise to influence direction, choices, and priorities Identify risks to successful execution across all departments, ensuring timely resolution of issues that may arise What you'll bring: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or 4 years of experience in information technology (Required) 6 years of experience in information technology, application development, system administration/engineering, or systems development which includes previous program or team management experience (Required) Experience with Facets is beneficial Experience with Microsoft Azure Ability to leverage metrics to influence business decisions Ability to effectively deal with rapid change in a positive manner and to support teams through changing priorities Previous experience building, managing, and retaining high performing successful collaborative work teams #LI-SS2 #DICE What we offer Medical, vision and dental coverage Life and disability insurance Retirement programs (401K employer match and pension plan) Wellness incentives, onsite services, a discount program and more Tuition assistance for undergraduate and graduate degrees Generous Paid Time Off to reenergize Free parking Equal employment opportunity/affirmative action: Premera is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
