Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Job Schedule: Full-Time

Are you looking for the opportunity to utilize your ability in software development? PREMIER Bankcard is looking for a friendly, outgoing individual to be responsible for gathering and transforming business and technical requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling solution, both on-prem and in the cloud and serve as a data steward. Qualified candidate will implement and document data architecture and data modeling solutions adhering to our software life cycle concepts and requirements.

Candidate must possess a good understand of applied data governance as well.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling and data flows (including reverse engineering) using Premier’s modeling tool
  • Perform logical data model design including normalization/denormalization referential integrity, data domains, primary and foreign key assignments, and data element definitions
  • Ensure the physical data model design includes standard object names, referential integrity, appropriate constraints, foreign key assignments, schemas, and consistent/appropriate use of surrogate keys and demoralization
  • Negotiate priorities and resolve requirement conflicts among various stakeholders
  • Develop, maintain, and follow standards, procedures, and guidelines for abbreviations, acronyms, class words and naming standards and data model reviews
  • Evaluate and analyze business systems/needs and translate into long-term data models
  • Follow best practices for data coding to verify consistency within the system
  • Update and optimize local and metadata models
  • Evaluate implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency
  • Server as an IT data steward implementing the policies, procedures, and rules set forth in data governance
  • Carry out data usage and security policies as determined through enterprise data governance initiatives

Skills and Qualifications

  • Data modeling experience required with strong emphasis on design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling
  • Experience in the gathering, integration, organization, categorization, and analysis of business requirements to create corresponding designs of conceptual, logical, and physical data models
  • Experience in deriving physical data models from a logical data model as well as reverse engineering a physical data model from a physical database
  • Ability to conduct data modeling sessions with business users and technical staff, which includes conveying complex ideas both verbally and in written form
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Experience with Data Governance platforms, Informatica preferred
  • Solid background in data management, data quality, data governance
  • Proficiency with Data Governance and Data Stewardship standard methodologies
  • Ability to understand and articulate the relationship between data and enterprise
  • Experience with ETL platforms, SSIS preferred
  • AWS/Azure database and data movement services preferred
  • Experience with multiple RDBMS platforms, MSSQL preferred
  • PowerShell, R, Python
  • Combination of education/experience in application software development and/or computer data management that would enable incumbent to meet essential duties and required competencies of the position is required
  • May require a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Typically requires 2-5 years of related experience, prefer a minimum of 3 year of experience in a software development environment
  • Proficiency of the English language
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to concentrate and work independently
  • Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capacity to learn, adapt to change, and become proficient quickly
