We are seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to join our team.
Job Overview:
The EHS Specialist will work with the site leadership team to ensure operations are compliant with applicable environmental, health & safety (EHS) regulations, security policies, & EHS policies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the design, implementation and maintenance of safety programs, policies, & procedures to ensure an environmentally safe & secure workplace that meets or exceeds all Federal, State, & Local regulations & standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and implement EHS programs in accordance with Federal, State, & local regulatory requirements, including all record keeping and required submissions.
- Create and maintain a compliance calendar for all relevant EHS functions and responsibilities at the plant.
- Develop and provide appropriate training to employees and contractors related to implemented EHS programs.
- Manage site EHS audits/inspections and ensure corrective actions are followed through on.
- Manage the disposal of wastes generated according to State & Federal EPA & DOT regulations.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments using Process Hazards Reviews and develop operating protocols to manage these hazards.
- Attend and conduct annual training programs as necessary to remain compliant with Federal and State requirements.
- Work with management to maintain an excellent safety record and reputation.
- Manage and document loss prevention activities, industrial hygiene activities, medical support, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Ensure people are trained on and abide by security guidelines.
- Track and Investigate safety incidents by providing root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
You'll Be A Great Fit If You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS, preferably in a production environment.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Experience developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of waste management practices and hazardous waste handling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.
