Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimating Manager to join our team at a leading Commercial General Contractor in Des Moines, Iowa. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in commercial construction estimating, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the estimating team in preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for various commercial construction projects.
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure competitive and reliable pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project requirements and objectives.
- Manage the bid process, including soliciting bids, evaluating proposals, and making recommendations for award.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide input on project feasibility and profitability.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures to ensure financial performance aligns with estimates.
- Continuously improve estimating processes and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management and clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating, with a strong understanding of various construction methods, materials, and costs.
- Proven experience in managing and leading an estimating team.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proficient in estimating software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
