Controller
Salary: $80,000 - $100,000DOE
Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm M-F
Location: Cuyahoga Falls, OH
My client in Cuyahoga Falls is seeking a Controller who will be responsible for managing the accounting department for their growing construction and property management company. This position will report directly to the CEO and will work closely with the Director of Real Estate and other leadership. This person will be an important contributor and advisor for acquisitions, development, property management, and asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all month and quarter end closing processes
Take a leadership role in implementing and improving existing accounting controls and create more efficient processes
Assist with loan processes and work with lenders
Oversee accounting department staff
Assist in year-end tax requirements
Analyze quarterly results for accuracy
Lead and mentor staff to improve skill set
Advise management on short and long term financial objectives
Approve payables according to weekly cash flow
Review cash flow for all properties
Submit workers compensation filings
Prepare bank reconciliations for accounts not in AppFolio
Complete annual insurance audit
Complete special projects as needed
Manage financials for properties
Complete quarterly reporting
Assist in preparation of budgets
Work with outside auditors to complete audits
Complete incentive management calculations annually
Calculate annual cash flow
Prepare information for outside accountants to file tax returns
Key Requirements:
Minimum 5 to 10 years accounting experience with experience in construction and/or real estate
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred but not required
Exceptional experience with Microsoft Office products (especially Excel)
Experience with general ledger systems
Motivated self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
