Position Summary
A DAS Technician is experienced in leading installation crews for the entire duration of large scale “in-building distributed antenna systems” projects. This position is 90-95% traveling required.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Installing DAS wireless equipment. To include but not limited to the installation of Outdoor and Indoor antennas, ½ inch coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, Cat 5e/6 cable, DC Power Cable, and other appropriate components to NEC standards.
- Terminating coaxial cable: JMA, Andrews, Trilogy, etc.
- Fusion Splicing and Fiber OTDR Testing (Fujikara, Fluke)
- Installation of DAS Headend to include DC Power Plant (Emerson), Alarms, CPS, etc.
- Experience completing Sweep, PIM, and Fiber testing. (Anritzu and EXFO Certifications and PLUS).
- Keeping customer and company informed of progress of installation. Communicating and coordinating with customers and company related to specific safety, local code, and company installation requirements.
- Assisting in proposal development and project preparation activities.
- Completing site surveys to troubleshoot and design corrective RF and RF/fiber optic installations for existing systems with inadequate coverage. Report findings to the appropriate staff.
- Assist with development of project schedules and materials/subcontractor selections.
- Mentoring and leading less experienced technicians.
- Completing job related documentation and record keeping.
- Assisting in warehouse maintenance and inventory.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of in-building DAS installation experience, 2 years of cable installation experience in IT, Cable, Electrical, RF and/or Telecommunications fields.
- Must have a high-level of understanding and experience performing fusion splicing, fiber terminations, fiber dressing, fiber cleaning and OTDR Testing.
- Must have a high-level of understanding and experience performing RF Sweep and PIM Measurements.
- Working knowledge of RF test equipment (i.e., sweep and PIM test equipment) Certifications a PLUS.
- Corning and EXFO Certifications a plus.
- Experience as a Field Foreman or Field Supervisor and coaching less experienced technicians while managing projects.
- Experience using software applications (Smartsheet, Excel, Plan Grid)
- Ability to lift upwards of 75lbs unassisted.
- Demonstrate ability to work in a professional manner at all job sites.
- Deliver customer service, use effective communication skills, and demonstrate ability to work well on a team.
- Think analytically to solve complex problems.
- Drive performance and execute against plan.
- Demonstrate ability to complete installations independently as projects require, while working with a sense of urgency.

- Individuals must be able to pass a drug and physical screening as well as background requirements including a Motor Vehicle Report.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

- Your willingness to travel is an important component of this role. In order to be successful in this position, you must be comfortable traveling for extended periods of time (for example 6-12 months). When you are traveling for an assignment, you will be away from home for two weeks at a time, return home for the weekend, then travel back to your work location for another two weeks, etc. Are you willing to travel on an ongoing basis without restrictions or limitations?
Experience:
- in-building DAS installation: 2 years (Preferred)
- completing Sweep, PIM, and Fiber Testing: 2 years (Preferred)
