Associate Accountant- Funds

What You'll Do

We’re looking for an exceptional Associate Accountant to join our Principal Asset Management Fund Reporting team at Principal Financial Group. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in conducting daily and monthly accounting transactions, month-end close activities, and other related duties.

As an Associate Accountant, you will be responsible for:

• Conducting month-end close activities.
• Performing basic accounting analysis and reporting of financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or other regulatory guidance.
• Calculating routine journal entries and providing accurate and timely financial submissions.
• Reconciling accounts and preparing financial data for inclusion in the financial control process.
• Conducting routine variance analysis.

Who You Are

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or 8 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Adaptability to changing business needs.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Teams).
  
  
  

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$20.84 - $39.81 / hour

Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
