What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler position at Pro Care?
The Scheduler is responsible for working in a team environment to processes in-patient and out-patient scheduling of various single and multiple tests, process patient charges for testing and treatments and/or visits as ordered by a physician and outpatient registration. Provide clerical support related to data collection, patient check-in, and order management for the Cardiac Diagnostic Lab to coordinate efficient and accurate patient care.
Position Requirements |
- Professionally and confidentially interviews patients, obtaining demographic and financial information.
- Ability to multi-task efficiently.
- Accurately registers patient in a timely and efficient manner.
- Sends or delivers patient related materials to correct department.
- Assists patients in understanding their insurance benefits and requirements.
- Support team dynamics to complete all tasks assigned each day.
- This is a Full Time Postion - 80hr/pay
- Shift 7am-3:30pm Monday - Friday - you must work every fifth weekend and a holiday rotation (normally two per year)
Essential Functions |
- Utilizes Master Patient Index (MPI) to retrieve the historical patient unit number.
- Prints face-sheet, arm band, plate, and labels as required.
- Copies front and back of identification and insurance cards.
- Accurately admits patients as observation or inpatient according to physician order.
- Prioritizes registration according to department guidelines, going to patient rooms for registration or signatures.
- Communicate all pertinent information regarding patients and testing to appropriate physician’s office or patient.
Physical Demands |
Medium work: Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally; and/or up to 20lbs frequently; and/or up to 10lbs constantly.
Educational, Licensure, & Experience Requirements |
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years post-high school medical/technical education, or 1-2 years equivalent in scheduling experience in hospital setting preferred.
- Previous experience in similar position in doctor’s office or hospital with direct contact preferred.
- Must type 40 WPM and pass a spelling and medical terminology test.
- Must be flexible to accommodate a variety of shift assignments.
