POSITION SUMMARY:
Overhead Crane Inspectors are responsible for properly inspecting and repairing crane/hoist components and rigging hardware for safe and efficient operation according to industry safety guidelines and regulations. This position would serve our customers throughout the state of North Dakota.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
May include but are not limited to the ability to:
· Inspect, repair, and maintain various crane components, rigging hardware, slings, and other equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
· Perform load tests.
· Write inspection reports and provide the proper documentation.
· Complete job tickets and paperwork accurately and promptly.
· Understand, recognize, and perform written, verbal, and hand signal instructions.
· Identify all weight limits/restrictions, safety regulations, and operating codes that are relevant for crane operation.
· Complete and keep current all training and certificates as required by Borsheim Crane Service, LLC, Federal Agencies, and our Customers.
· Participate in Safety meetings and training.
· Wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, FR clothing and hard hat.
· Work both indoors and outdoors during all seasons/months of the year
· Report all incidents, injuries, and/or accidents immediately to supervisor or Safety Director.
· Work closely with coworkers, managers, customers, and crews while keeping a professional and safe environment for all.
· Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to obtain a NCCCO Overhead Crane Inspector Certification, with provided training.
· Strong mechanical ability.
· Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record (CDL Preferred.)
· Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
· Must be willing and able to travel, work overtime, and work occasional weekends.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Understand the causes and results of overhead crane accidents.
· Recognize and understand the difference between deficiencies and safety hazards.
· Knowledge of applicable OSHA & ANSI/ASME Regulations and Standards.
· Demonstrate proper use of inspection tools.
· Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions, manufacturer repair manuals, and schematics.
· Effective and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Good organizational and management skills.
· Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
· Patience, good judgement, attention to detail.
· Physical Demands:
o Vision/Sight: Able to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, focus, and assess surroundings.
o Stand, walk, and use hands/fingers to handle or feel: To operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, and position equipment, tools, etc.
o Sit: Ability to sit while driving/traveling to work locations.
o Climb (equipment) and balance: Able to ascend/descend and work atop to service equipment.
o Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Ability to position oneself and to move freely.
o Talk and Hear: Ability to communicate, detect, converse with others, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information.
o Carry weight, lift: Ability to move, transport, position, put/install, and remove parts, equipment, and tools that are 70 lbs. continuously.
