Art Director

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a freelance Art Director with experience in branding and design systems to work on a global tech brand. As the Art Director, you'll work with teams of creatives, conceptualize, develop and design art directions visual systems. This position is client facing and requires an art director with strong presentation skills, coupled with intellect, initiative, reliability, team leadership management plus advanced graphic design skills specifically in vector-based artworks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Present creative and strategic work to clients
• Lead, manage and grow team members
• Design and direct the core visual identity design elements (fonts, keyart, colors, layouts, etc) for subsequent static and motion graphic standards
• Outline, write, and design presentation decks and brand guides
• Devise strategic brand based ideas for deliverables and presentations
• Ensure the quality and craft of all creative output
• Uphold company-wide organizational protocols

MUST-HAVES

• Previous experience in branding and design systems
• Previous experience leading client presentations and managing creative teams
• Portfolio that demonstrates a clear understanding of graphic design, imagemaking, branding & focuses heavily on creative directed graphic design and visual identity design systems
• Advanced knowledge of applicable software and print/web industry standards
• Conceptual communication ability (writing, hand-sketching, wire-framing, and outlining ideas)
• Ideation techniques (brainstorming, lateral thinking/oblique strategies)
• Advanced typesetting (paragraph & character styling, systematic thinking, typographic terminology)
• Advanced understanding of vector based artwork making techniques specifically in Adobe Illustrator
• Experience in either building brand guidelines or working with a team to develop brand guidelines and graphic based systems
• Hands on design skills as this position requires both delegating making work

NICE-TO-HAVE

• Professional/Personal experience in creative fields outside graphic design
• General knowledge of music (cultural trends, industry, composition & production)
• General understanding of 3D design and motion principles 3D software knowledge
