Job Posting for Transportation Design Technician at Professional Engineering Consultants
This position is involved with the technical aspects of project design and preparation of design drawings. This position requires formal training in CAD production and experience in Microstation and Bentley design products a plus preferably familiar with ODOT formats. The position requires the ability to use the drafting tools to their full capabilities for intended day-to-day use, an understanding of the design process to gather, manipulate, and store project information in a repeatable and efficient manner, and knowledge of the workings of the CAD design/ drafting software to standardize our methods and increase efficiency and productivity. The Technician works with the Team Leader, Project Managers and Engineers to prepare the working design drawings and the final construction drawings, and to gather, organize, archive, and retrieve project information.
Typical Duties:
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all-encompassing. Each person is expected to help as required to deliver a quality product within the scheduled time.
Perform basic computations by hand and by computer software. Uses experience, education, and judgment to make informed decisions. Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences; thus, increasing capabilities in breadth and complexity.
Organizes multiple tasks and completes them in an orderly fashion.
Effectively communicates and coordinates with the Engineers and other PEC team members in order to complete production tasks.
Prepares working and final drawings. Produces clear and concise construction drawings using the PEC/client standards. Reviews project submittals for compliance with design checklist and drafting standards.
Organizes project information and drawing files in a manner that is accessible and understandable for current and future use.
Works with others to review and create standards and efficient plan production workflows.
Researches and understands client design/ drafting and CAD standards and its relevance to the design process.
Keeps the Team Leader informed of workload.
Job Requirements:
Basic knowledge of CAD production software.
Familiarity with Microstation/Bentley design products and ODOT formats is a plus.
Ability to read and understand plans.
Meet and understand critical deadlines through efficient time management.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of conventional field surveys, notes and processing of electronic field data is a plus.
