What are the responsibilities and job description for the Set-Up Technician position at PROFIL?
Basic Purpose and Objective:
Verifies threaded parts made on single or multiple spindle tapping machines and thread rolling machines meet specification prior to transfer from containment and at regular intervals.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read job specifications and engineering drawings to determine inspection requirements.
- Perform hourly and process containment dimensional check on threaded parts
- Collect data for SPC charts and make necessary calculations to complete and fill out all charting.
- Ability to lift Pierce Nut stock manually, with hoist or lift truck and positions
- Verify thread dimensions of Pierce Nuts with specifications using the containment pan to assure that non-conforming work pieces are scraped and/or saved for further analysis by the quality department.
- Visually inspect parts for quality issues
- Use a computer system to track active production jobs
- Clean machine and work area
- Housekeeping/6S
Work Environment:
- Un-airconditioned, well ventilated manufacturing facility
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift approximately 40 lbs. from floor level to waist, and waist to floor approximately 5 times per hour
- Must be able to stand approximately 8-10 hrs./day

- Able to bend, twist, and squat in sometimes awkward positions for prolonged periods of time while exerting force (pushing or pulling) on hand tools to adjust machine

Experience Required:
- The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
- Preferred – Mechanical problem solving and/or maintenance background
- Preferred – Familiarity with thread tapping or thread rolling machines
- Preferred – Desire to further develop machine-based skills to a more technical role
Education and Experience Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months related experience and/or on-the-job training
Position Type/Expectations of Working Hours:
- Full time position
- Regularly scheduled to work 8 – 10 hours a day
- Must be able to work Monday - Saturday
Shifts Available:
- 2nd Shift Mon. - Fri. 4:30 pm - 3:00 am; Sat. 2 pm - 10 pm*
- 3rd Shift Mon. - Fri. 7:30 pm - 6 am; Sat. 2 pm - 10 pm*
*Hourly rate shift premium for 2nd and 3rd shift
