Speech Language Pathologist: Wilson County Schools
Project Play Therapy’s school speech language therapy team is growing! We’re looking to hire full and or part time SLPs to serve in area schools. At Project Play Therapy (PPT), our job is to help others see and celebrate each child’s unique gifts. We open doors by fostering opportunities for growth and independence through play. We specialize in speech, occupational, physical, and ABA therapy in both school and clinic settings. In the school setting, we can also provide psychological services, counseling, music therapy, and vision and hearing services.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
The Speech Language Pathologist position is a direct service position at Project Play Therapy whose focus is to facilitate quality service delivery in the school setting. The ideal candidate will serve as a primary speech services provider for schools they are assigned. The SLP is expected to use innovation, leadership, and problem solving while engaging with administration, staff, and other stakeholders in order to provide quality services. The candidate must be motivated to grow with a young, vibrant company. We are looking for SLPs who are energized by ongoing collaboration and the endless pursuit of excellent service. This position reports directly to the Lead SLP.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Service Delivery:
- Develop and strengthen relationships with patients/students and families to establish rapport and trust among all stakeholders, and communicate the mission and vision of PPT
- Establish and maintain cohesive communication and excellent service delivery through screenings, evaluations, direct therapy, and case management
- Participate in IEP meetings while adapting communication style to meet the needs of patient/students, family, PPT employees, school partners, and other stakeholders
- Demonstrate best practices, inclusion, problem-solving, and proactive communication
- Work within a multidisciplinary environment that values communication, accountability and collaboration
Indirect Service Delivery:
- Create schedule that encompasses all student minutes as aligned in the IEP
- Design goals and expectations of services in order to effectively execute and meet outcomes
- Collect data and produce reports in the form of SOAP notes and progress reports to show impact of services
- Participate in case management for students with Language Impairment and/or Speech Impairment by planning and executing meetings and producing reevaluation, eligibility, and IEPs while maintaining compliance
- Adhere to best practices and ethical guidelines, as determined by ASHA
- Collaborate with all coworkers (other disciplines/teachers/administration/Lead SLP) to foster student success and independence
- Assist management team with special projects, as assigned
Candidate Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders / Speech-Language Pathology
- Tennessee State License as a CCC-SLP or CF-SLP from the TN Communication Disorders and Sciences Board
- Integrity and advocacy skills. Must be comfortable participating in meetings and advocating for students
- Ability to problem solve effectively and expediently to meet and surpass the needs of the students, families, and school partners
- Ability to provide service in a way that promotes a culture of community, excellence, and efficiency
- Must be comfortable serving a caseload with a variety of needs
- Evidence of good written and oral language skills, as well as strong organizational skills
- Able to work both independently and in a team environment
