About Us
Project Ropa is a small nonprofit organization on a mission to restore dignity and empower the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles by providing clean clothes, hygiene essentials, and employment opportunities while reducing textile waste and minimizing our carbon footprint.
Project Ropa operates the only Mobile Clothing Closet of its kind in the Los Angeles area. On a weekly basis our retrofitted van delivers hope as well as hygiene kits, drinking water and a full selection of men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories all neatly displayed on racks and shelves to unhoused and low-income individuals and families at service sites in Boyle Heights, Echo Park and Hollywood. At each location we operate in tandem with other mobile service providers which include showers, haircuts, ID replacement, food pantries, medical and dental clinics and employment and housing resources.
This is a new position in the organization which will report to the Executive Director. The Site Director will oversee all service sites, our 1,200 sq. ft. warehouse and a staff of four.
Duties and responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
- Train, mentor & manage staff to deliver exceptional services
- Manage growing team and provide oversight of administrative duties and program operations for all our service sites (Echo Park, Boyle Heights and Hollywood) and at our warehouse in Gardena.
- Support staff in focusing on program metrics and outcomes and support site in reaching grant outcomes and site level goals.
- Track and monitor program data. Analyze trends of client service delivery use. Help and lead the creation of data informed annual goals for the sites and program.
- Meet with staff regularly to discuss data, provide training, and support engagement and professional development.
- Provide support and guidance on how to address client situations, delivering direct services to clients experiencing high barriers or moments of escalation.
- Provide support in onboarding new team members across the organization.
- Provide support to address time-sensitive client and office needs, including de-escalation, conflict management and mediation, and coverage issues, as needed.
- Ability to address challenging conflicts and operational problems, making timely decisions, often under pressure with tight and competing deadlines.
- Foster strong client, colleague, and partner relationships
- Represent Project Ropa to stakeholders, including providing site tours, attending outreach events and community meetings, and delivering presentations.
- Serve as a collaborator with the Development Director to identify grant opportunities and funding to support client resources and engagement.
- Meet regularly with the Executive Director to carry out program goals and determine long-range plans.
- Establish relationships with community leaders, employers, and other nonprofits to establish new partnerships with the goal of program enrichment and additional client resources.
- Make recommendations and participate in the implementation of projects to ensure that services are aligned with best practices in the field, reflect the needs of the client population, and support clients in achieving their employment goals.
- Meet with the Management Team on a regular basis, providing support and ensuring consistent delivery of the program.
- Oversee, including monitoring budget allocations and resources to support clients, staff and volunteers.
- Assists in the development of program reports, evaluations, and other data collection and provides both numerical and anecdotal data to meet funder requirements and other needs.
- Develop annual program and outreach plans, including goals, objectives, strategies, and evaluation. Monitors budget and implementation of the plan.
- Working with the Development and Volunteer Manager to identify and assist in the recruitment of volunteers necessary to accomplish program goals and objectives.
Job Skills and Qualifications:
- BA (preferred), MA (a plus)
- Minimum 3 years in program delivery and management, or equivalent experience, including both direct client service (preferably in case management) and staff and volunteer supervision, training, and mentoring.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and/or experience motivating team members toward completion of goals.
- Excellent teamwork and leadership skills, including the ability to coach/mentor staff and clients.
- Excellent time management skill as well as verbal and written communication skills including public speaking, presentation skills, report, proposal, and letter, writing and proofreading.
- Must thrive working collaboratively as a team player.
- A “self-starter” who is concurrently goal driven and mission driven.
- Demonstrated team player with a clear understanding of team dynamics.
- Interest in, experience working with, and sensitivity toward the Project Ropa’s client population.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

As part of the management team, the Site Director models and supports staff in delivering high-quality services.
The Site Director plans, manages, tracks, and carries out client services at Project Ropa’s sites and warehouse. The Site Director is responsible for the management of staff, operations, volunteers, serves as the liaison to the local community stakeholders, and develops and nurtures partnerships with local agencies for the purposes of outreach and client service.
Staff Vaccination Policy
