Position overview:

The Construction Manager Representative shall provide government assistance with the existing parking facility at Fossil Exhibit which is substantially oversized and the excess pavement contributes to elevated levels of rainwater runoff, which is collected in a series of drop inlets and piped back beneath the Loop Road to an outfall.  There are uneven timber curbs along the parking stalls that create safety-tripping hazards.  An unleveled “sinking” pad at the interpretive shelter is also a safety hazard and is not ABAAS compliant.  Finally, an existing sidewalk is too close to the badlands features and is constantly being blocked by eroded soils.  The sidewalk is also in an awkward alignment with relation to the lot’s Restroom facility. Components of the construction include grading and drainage improvements, asphalt and concrete paving, sidewalks, signage, pavement striping and crosswalks, landscape rehabilitation, interpretive shelter construction, earthwork and basin materials, and site sensitive paleontology sites.

Responsibilities and duties:

• CMR shall provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction. 
• Arrange, attend and facilitate a variety of meetings, including weekly meetings at the project site. 
• Document issues encountered and problems experienced with the construction contractor. 
• Review contractor's baseline and progress schedules
• Inspect the work of the construction contractor for progress, workmanship, quality and conformance with contract documents, applicable building codes and safety standards .
• Coordinate critical point, special, beneficial, and final inspections by design staff or other inspectors so work can be approved in a timely and efficient manner. 
• Draft Request for Proposals (RFPs) that define work to be performed and cite relevant specification sections including appropriate sketches illustrating work to be performed. 
• The construction manager shall have no authority to: Accept or reject construction work, Authorize changes to the terms and conditions of the construction contract, Instruct or make recommendations to the construction contractor. 

Required education, knowledge and skills:

• Knowledge of the fundamental construction principles, concepts and practices

• OSHA 30 required 

• Comprehensive knowledge of site planning, building design and construction means, methods and codes, scheduling, material and labor cost estimating sufficient to evaluate general compliance environmental health, safety and protection requirements

• Average agility and dexterity. Duties will include moderate walking over rough, uneven or slippery surfaces, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, climbing ladders or similar activities, recurring lifting of moderately heave objects less than 50 lbs. and regular visits to construction sites
• Must pass a pre-employment background check 
• 10 years' related experience 
• Valid driver’s license
• Travel may be required
