Job Description:
As a Research Assistant, your key responsibilities are to facilitate the smooth collection of data and ensure strict compliance with documentation for research studies involving human participants. You will be at the heart of both in-person and remote studies, taking charge of their organization, planning, execution, and data collection. Working with Meta staff, you will ensure that every aspect of the study setup and protocols aligns with industry-leading standards of safety, privacy, and security.
Responsibilities
- Understanding the study's objectives and background, and executing the study. This includes collection of informed consent, running experiment protocols, handling of confidential data, data annotation, and creation of basic reports.
- Conduct literature reviews on a wide field of research topics
- Assist with recruiting and scheduling of experiment participants
- Help with experimental design, documentation, and provide feedback during design
- Preparing and setting up equipment for studies, coordinating with engineers, equipment vendors, safety evaluators, and the research team to ensure proper setup.

- Bachelors in the field of psychology (e.g. neuroscience), cognitive science (e.g., artificial intelligence), computer science (e.g., human-computer interaction), engineering (e.g., human-factors), or a closely-related research area
- Experience running data collection using in-person qualitative research methods (e.g., user interviews, observational methods.
- Experience with qualitative data cleaning and coding.
Required Characteristics:

- Experience running data collection using in-person qualitative research methods (e.g., user interviews, observational methods.

- Minimum 1 years of experience working in a research environment involving human subjects
- A good understanding of information technology, including filesystems, secure shell (ssh), and experience with spreadsheet applications. Proficiency in using Windows, Linux, or MacOS (both command line and GUI) is required.
Desired Characteristics:
- Advanced degree (MA, doctoral student)
- Experience analyzing data and/or designing research protocols β in particular, studies using in person qualitative methods and surveys.
- Experience collecting user interaction data and working with related technical equipment (e.g., inertial sensing with IMUs, optical sensing, EMG).
- Knowledge of quantitative methods and analysis (e.g., basic survey creation, descriptive statistics)
- Some knowledge of scripting and/or programming, preferably with experience in Matlab, Python, JavaScript, or other languages.
