Summary of Art Director Position:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

The Art Director is responsible for spearheading pep’s creative concepting, design, copywriting, and graphic design practice for pep. They will lead a team that that develops promotional creative for clients as well as for pep’s own marketing needs. In this role they will not only be responsible for oversight of the creative practice, but also will be assigned their own projects to lead. Must collaborate with all client service teams and other pep departments, and will be a stimulator and ideas generator, providing strategic creative support for both clients and internal design needs. The position will require expertise and passion for promotion marketing campaigns and integrated brand activations - which includes conceptualizing consumer experiences, presentations and working with account and designers to help bring these ideas to life verbally while making sure we are on strategy and meeting our clients marketing objectives. An extensive portfolio of past work, including relevant assignments, is required.

Essential Functions of Art Director:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Leads the creative team to build a strong creative, copy and conceptualize development of various client promotional campaigns including but not limited to free standing inserts (FSI), in-store point of purchase (POP) signage, instantly redeemable coupons (IRCs), digital incentives, brochures/handouts, and direct mail
• Prioritizes and assigns projects for creative team to ensure optimal support and on-time delivery

• Manages team of direct reports (creative team); including conducting regular 1:1s, continual coaching, troubleshooting, career guidance, performance evaluations, workload management

• Attends client briefing meetings
• Leads creative presentations and demonstrates keen ability to showcase work, provide explanation on creative direction and advocate for work
• Works seamlessly with pep client services team counterparts to ensure timely and high-quality communication and deliverables to ensure client satisfaction
• Catalogs and files all creative assets in a logical and easily accessible manner in client’s and pep’s asset management platforms for future reference and use; ensures they remain up to date
• Follows file sharing best practices as files are shared between client, pep, and partners

Job Competencies:

• Creativity and ability to translate a client creative brief into design concepts that delivers on the brief requirements
• Understanding of common promotional marketing vehicles and how to design creative that is appropriate for those platforms
• Ability to provide and be open to constructive design feedback
• Strong communication skills, specially to explain rationale for creative recommendation and sell creative ideas
• Customer/Client Focus

Required Education and Experience:

• BA/BFA in design or equivalent field of study preferred
• 8 years of industry experience
• Ability to work well in a team environment, contribute ideas, and interact with other departments to obtain information
• Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast- paced environment
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
• Must have a strong work ethic, take ownership of assigned tasks, and possess exceptional follow through skills
• Expert-level experience in Adobe Creative Suite
• Must have a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Must possess a high-level of attention to detail
