PURCHASING MANAGER

LOCATION: Grand Rapids, Michigan

DEPARTMENT: Purchasing

START DATE: Looking to fill as soon as possible

STATUS: Full Time

ABOUT THIS POSITION

We are looking for an energetic, self-starter, who has a proven ability leading high functioning teams. Proos Manufacturing is an industry leading manufacturer, serving in the material handling industry. Over the past several years, Proos has experienced rapid growth and is specifically looking for a strategic leader with a strong track record of delivery timely results. The Purchasing Manager oversees all supply chain activities, team members, functions, and strategic purchasing decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, and invoice issues.
  • Coordinates with fellow managers to monitor inventory and determine supply needs.
  • Develop and implement a purchasing strategy.
  • Develops appropriate limits of authority and purchasing approval process.
  • Manages supplier relations and negotiates contracts and pricing.
  • Oversees and reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics.
  • Oversees supply chain systems, processes, and infrastructure.
  • Proactively addresses supplier and internal challenges as they arise.
  • Provides direct leadership to procurement team.
  • Researches and develops new supplier to assist with organizational growth.
  • Stays current with purchasing and market trends to develop strategic guidance to the organization.
  • Works closely with the engineering team, operations, and planning to devise make/buy decisions.

SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership experience
  • Metal Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a purchasing manager or agent.
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Self - Starter
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong with ERP platforms
  • Understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss.

BENEFITS

Proos provides new employees with 80 hours of PTO. PTO for new hires is pro-rated based on date of hire. Proos provides 8 company-paid holidays and 1 floating holiday. Proos provides Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage. We offer a variety of coverage options and share the cost of the premiums with our employees. Proos provides Basic Life / AD&D Coverage to all full-time employees. Additionally, we provide Short-Term Disability Insurance and an Employee Assistance Program to all full-time employees. We pay 100% of the cost for these benefits. Employees can also elect Supplemental Life / AD&D, FSA, Dependent Care and Long-Term Disability coverage. For employees who contribute to the Proos 401(K) plan, we will contribute a matching contribution in an amount equal to: (i) 100% of the Matched Employee Contributions that are not in excess of 3% of your Plan Compensation, plus (ii) 50% of the amount of the Matched Employee Contributions that exceed 3% of your Plan Compensation but that do not exceed 5% of your Plan Compensation. After one year of successful employment, full-time employees are eligible to participate in our Tuition Reimbursement Program, which provides up to $15,000 of assistance annually. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid parental and adoption leave at that time.
