PAYROLL & HR SPECIALIST
We are seeking a dedicated Payroll & HR Specialist to join our dynamic team at ProService Hawaii and Obsidian HR. In this impactful role, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll and HR administration, ensuring that our employees receive exceptional service and support for all payroll and benefits inquiries.
Your efforts will play a key role in fostering trust and satisfaction throughout the organization.
As a member of the HR team, you will generate reports, conduct audits, manage leave requests, oversee benefits enrollments, and verify employment, among other responsibilities.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will ensure process driven systems for HR Administration in three main areas :
Payroll :
- Obtain timecard approvals from supervisors / managers and process weekly payroll.
- Process supplemental payroll for commissions, bonuses, separations, etc.
- Audit payroll in great detail to ensure accuracy in internal guidelines, specific changes or requests and compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations.
- Partner with Tax Compliance on necessary Year End activities (W2s, W2-Cs)
HR Operations :
- Manage our HRIS system and employee workflows.
- Oversee benefit plan management, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Process leave requests (FMLA, TDI, WC, etc.) and maintain employee data.
- Track Certification Reimbursements
Reporting :
- Provide on demand, recurring and ad-hoc internal HR reports.
- Annual Internal HR Audit in partnership with Accounting.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM
- 5 years of payroll experience required, including proficiency in multi-state payroll regulations
- 3 years of HR experience preferred
- Familiarity with programs such as Prism and / or iSolved is preferred
- Attention to Detail : Ensure accuracy in payroll processing and auditing; maintain thorough records to prevent errors.
- Time Management : Prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Communication : Communicate clearly with all employees, including executives; deliver exceptional service and address payroll and benefits inquiries promptly.
- Problem Solving : Analyze issues and provide practical solutions for complex payroll and benefits scenarios.
- Knowledge & Analytical Skills : Maintain in-depth understanding of State and Federal payroll regulations; ensure compliance through regular audits and data interpretation.
The base compensation for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 annualized depending on experience and qualifications.
We are targeting this role to be based out of our Hawaii Kai neighborhood office on the island of Oahu, where employees work a hybrid schedule.
We also welcome applications from individuals located on other Hawaiian islands or the US West Coast and are willing to work Hawaii-leaning hours.
