Elementary 3rd Grade Teacher Job Description
The 3rd Grade Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and delivering instruction to various ability levels. The teacher will demonstrate supplementary content knowledge and assist students in accurately listening, writing, speaking, and reading.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and implement the approved Core Knowledge curriculum for specific content areas.
- Conduct an organized and professional classroom.
- Model and foster independent thinking skills, creative problem solving, and abstract reasoning.
- Show empathy and understanding of students.
- Communicate consistently and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Develop a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity with parents and students.
- Assess student performance frequently and objectively.
- Facilitate resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents.
- Promote accountability for students.
- Execute effective classroom management through clear expectations and positive relationships.
- Instructional and technological competency.
- Knowledge of and adherence to approved communication pathways.
- Actively pursues professional development opportunities.
- Participate in and contribute to programs and activities that enhance PRA outside of instructional hours.
- Follow policies established by the PRA Board of Directors, Adams 12 School District, and Colorado State mandated school guidelines, except where PRA has received waivers.
- Provide backup assistance and coverage for other areas.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Education and Related Work Experience
- B.A. or B.S required.
- Must meet the state certification requirements within the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
- Current Colorado Teaching License.
- Demonstrated experience in the instruction of students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery.
- Commitment to Core Knowledge curriculum.
- Commitment to the implementation of Character Education and Positive Behavior System.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, policy and expectation documents, staff agreements, evaluation rubrics, curriculum maps and materials, and student assessment documents.
- Ability to effectively document classroom observations, analyze data to improve instructional practices, and correspond with staff.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of staff, students, Board of Directors, Administrators, and parents.
- Ability to understand and carry out written, oral, or diagram form instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to be self-motivated.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate different tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various groups.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills while working with a diverse population.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The employee is required to talk, walk, stand, hear and sit and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Salary
This positions hiring range is between $44,000 to $49,500 for a BA teacher
This positions hiring range is between $52,000 to $58,500 for a MA teacher
Full salary range is BA teacher is $44,000 to $66,000
Full salary range is MA teacher is $52,000 to $78,000
