ABOUT PROSPERA

Prospera is an economic development, nonprofit organization specialized in providing bilingual assistance to Hispanic entrepreneurs trying to establish or expand their business.

JOB SUMMARY

The pay rate for this position is: $20.00 per hour. Hybrid position (remote and on-site work)

The overall purpose of the Small Business Specialist is to assist business consultants, help with client management and compliance requirements, coordinate business seminars, participate in outreach and promotions, and provide support for regional services and community presence, helping to expand their professional network.

This person will assist the Regional Vice President to implement the organization’s successful economic development program model in the region, to help underserved Hispanic entrepreneurs and foster community prosperity. Consulting at Prospera is a team sport with great exposure and growth opportunities as you work with clients, funders, volunteers, partners, local government, and vendors.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support Small Business Consultants:

  • Help with client communications and responses to inquiries
  • Assist with client meetings and follow-up based on EDPs
  • Schedule appointments for client/provider meetings and help with set-up
  • Attend community and networking events on behalf of the organization
  • Provide support in preparing for committee meetings, documents, presentations, and set-up
  • Accurately enter required client and seminar information into client relationship management systems
  • Assist with compliance and reporting duties for the region

In conjunction with Small Business Consultants, help organize educational programs for Hispanic entrepreneurs throughout the year:

  • Participate in the educational program coordination and the Education Committee
  • Venue reservations and coordination
  • Set up training rooms with participant and presenter materials
  • Evaluate speakers at the end of each seminar
  • Seminar follow-up with hosts, participants, presenters, and others as needed

Complete special projects and miscellaneous programs as assigned by the Regional Vice President:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team for regional social media postings and other communications content
  • Help develop a culture of philanthropy in the organization among clients, volunteers, providers and other constituents
  • Assist with internship program.
  • Other duties and projects as needed.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS:

  • Pursuing a post-secondary degree in business or public administration, finance, marketing, or a related field
  • Must be able to research, communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in English and Spanish
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Professional appearance and demeanor required
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with good driving record required
  • Must have satisfactory results from pre-employment verifications.
