Position Summary
The Engineering Manager, manages and trains an engineering team and coordinates activities of engineering department to design, process, project, and develop, produce, improve, and test components, products, systems, and services. The engineering manager also allocates resources as necessary to support production and service activities related to equipment design, manufacturing, reliability and troubleshooting.
Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties)
Works on or serves as a resource on projects requiring advanced knowledge of a particular field of specialization.
Provides planning, direction, and coordination for all technical activities while achieving optimum use of workers, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Drives others to use established best practices related to engineering change requests, engineering change orders, documentation updates and revision tracking/control of company engineering documents.
Plans and establishes engineering schedules and follows up performance against estimates.
Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
Manages development of material selection standards.
Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
Recommends and implements new policies and procedures as directed.
Initiates cost reduction proposals from other sources, compiles appropriate information, makes recommendations for action, and checks on results obtained.
Ensures compliance of company policies, procedures, and objectives regarding processes, initiatives, and projects.
Secondary Accountabilities
May direct field testing of products and systems performed by field staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology or related field
6 years experience in Engineering or Engineering Technology
4 years experience in Design and Development
A combination of education and experience may be acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor's degree if the applicant possesses the skills and knowledge to perform the duties of the position
Experience in Microsoft Office
Experience in SolidWorks
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
Must be able to bend, sit, walk
Must be able to see and hear
Able to travel up to 25%
