Position Summary
The Accountant is primarily responsible for executing the daily accounting functions and managing the accounting databases for recording, documenting and reporting all financial transactions. This position reports to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides accounting support for all departments to ensure consistency within the business framework of the organization.
- Responsible for the execution of all daily, weekly and monthly accounting activities, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition and deposits, credit card processing, purchase orders, invoices, payroll processing, and month end close.
- Responsible for overseeing gift card inventory. Coordinate tracking and managing gift card inventory and record monthly transactions to tie balance in database with general ledger account.
- Responsible for updating the cash flow model and working with the Chief Financial and Operations Officer on cash management of the organization.
- Manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and Government Auditing Standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with the Human Resources Department regarding payroll accounting, transactions, reporting, tax calculations and filing activities per IRS regulations and benefits enrollment reconciliation for payments.
- Maintain Fixed Asset Schedule to update for asset acquisitions and/or disposals and to track monthly and annual depreciation. Ensure that the schedule detail ties to the asset and depreciation accounts on a monthly basis.
- Collaborate with the External Relations Department to coordinate activity between Raisers Edge and Financial Edge, including reconciliation of revenues and pledges and establishment of new accounts, projects, and development initiatives.
- Support special event financial needs including petty cash, credit card processing, bank deposit, and event budget reconciliation.
- Track all restricted donations to ensure alignment of expenses and reconcile with temporarily restricted cash balance.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required.
- 2-4 years of experience in accounting position; non-profit financial experience a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in database software programs, and various accounting software programs. Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge a plus.
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. Typical hours of work are Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm with occasional weekend and evening responsibilities as needed. This position operates on a hybrid schedule of both remote and in-person work. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
