Description:
Providence is calling a Laboratory Assistant II (Full-Time/Day Shift) to Providence Facey Medical Foundation in Santa Clarita, CA.
We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant II who will provide courteous and professional care in drawing blood from patients.
In this position you will:
- Meet the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on commitments made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner
- Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients
- Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards
- Report any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline
- Be responsible for making appointments and instruction for patients laboratory procedures
- Maintain records and perform laboratory related clerical duties, such as coding, billing, etc.
- Perform phlebotomy duties
- Perform and report waived tests as defined by CLIA
- Train new staff on Facey procedures
- Monitor phlebotomy supplies
- Perform all functions in IDX and Cyberlab
- Adhere to the customer service standards of the organization reflected in daily work habits:
- Complaints are resolved immediately or referred to the department supervisor or manager
- Patients are addressed with courtesy
- Adhere to policies contained in Personnel and Laboratory manuals
- Respond to requests from other departments in a timely, positive manner
- Follow proper safety precautions:
- Demonstrate proper use of protective equipment
- Use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing, etc.
- Follow infection control policies and procedures
- Dispose of used products in the appropriate manner
- Maintain appropriate certifications
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for these positions:
- Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement
- State Phlebotomy certification
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers
- Two (2) year direct hands-on experience
- Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology
- Works independently with little supervision
- Know proper phlebotomy procedures and follow them
- Knowledge of UR/QA requirements
