Operating Room Assistant I - Operating Room at Providence Alaska Medical Center
Under supervision the Operating Room Assistant I provides general support to Anesthesia and Nursing staff in the Operating Room. Activities focus on maintaining a safe, hazard free, clean environment that facilitates patient focused care. OR Assistants handle equipment and supplies, clean and decontaminate Operating Rooms and equipment, transport patients, operate sterilization equipment, and operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of technical equipment used in the operating room. Assists Anesthesiologists by processing anesthesia instruments, providing equipment, and restocking supplies and medications. Assists with providing patient care in the Operating Room under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and the Lead OR assist.
Preferred qualifications:
- 6 months Internal OR Assistant I candidates must have Operating Room Assistant experience and must complete the Operating Room Assistant competency program.
- 1 year External candidates must have experience as an Operating Room Assistant or equivalent in a hospital based operating room.
- Coursework/Training: Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
