POSITION SUMMARY
Under general direction, this key position is responsible for directing the Accounting functions of the Bank. Specific areas include the daily, monthly and quarterly financial closing process, periodic analysis of the Company's operating performance, the development and maintenance of planning and budget systems, analysisand interpretation of trends requiring management's attention, the preparation of financial and management reports and procedures and the presentation of findings and specific recommendations to senior management. Directs and coordinates the operations of the budget, purchasing, general ledger, accounts payable and financial, regulatory and management reporting areas. The work involves the independent and regular exercise of discretion and judgment regarding the bank's finances, which includes preparation of management and financial reporting.MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares and directs the preparation of annual and interim financial statements as requiredby current accounting and regulatory guidelines.Directs preparation of annual budgets.
Leads the budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, implementation, and business strategic analysis of the financial team. Conducts financial analysis, modeling, forecasting and reporting efforts to ensure efficient financial operations. Directs the preparation of the annual business plan for submission to the Board
Participates in strategic planning process with executive and senior management and provides periodic analysis of operating performance compared to strategic plan initiatives.
Prepares and directs the preparation of reports that summarize and forecast the Bank's business activity and financial position.
Engaged in the preparation of materials for analyst and investor meetings, as well as the an-nual report to shareholders.
Represents finance department at inter departmental planning meetings.
Oversees Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Budget & Profitability systems & reporting.
Participates in special projects as assigned by management.
Directs and plans for enhancements to computerized financial reporting systems.
Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to corporate and accounting procedures,guide-lines and standards. Responsible for relevant staff who report directly and indirectly.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable Supervisor, Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis and Purchasing Supervisor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies. This includes interviewing, hiring, training and managing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing and resolving employee complaints and concerns.
SKILLS AND TRAINING
- Strong managerial, presentation and analytical skills.
Excellent and proven knowledge of and the ability to accurately apply generally acceptedaccounting principles.
Proficient in using and learning accounting software. Demonstrated proficiency in computeroperations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with executives, managers,employees and vendors.
Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret financial reports, statements and related legaldocuments.
Ability to attend meetings or perform other assignments at locations outside of the office, ifnecessary.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to remain composed and make appropriate decisions under stressful conditions whichmay involve dealing with a range or responsibilities, large sums of money and defined timetables.
Ability to shift attention quickly and accurately from one matter to another.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and complete them on time.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Masters degree a plus
WORK EXPERIENCE
7 to 10 years in Accounting/Finance. Working knowledge of tax accounting.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
CPA or CMA preferred.
