Description
The Data Engineer is the key architect and developer of our data infrastructure. This individual manages the systems used to integrate and access disparate data sources throughout the school district.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information technology, statistics or other relevant technical program
- Experience creating and maintaining optimal data architecture
- Strong analytical skills related to working with unstructured datasets
- Demonstrated ability to integrate disparate data sources utilizing FTP, API, and flat file imports
- Strong ability to work with end users to plan the design of data infrastructure
- Demonstrated skill in project management, as well as excellent planning, organizational and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to apply problem-solving techniques to complex information analysis.
- Self-motivated, disciplined individual who can perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility and capability to effectively prioritize workload to meet project deadlines and multiple tasks
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
- Exceptional attention to detail

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and maintains all data infrastructure for the Office of Data Analytics
- Integrates disparate data sources for eventual analysis and consumption by end-users in Business Intelligence solutions
- Designs, implements, and manages ETL processes to help extract and manipulate data from multiple sources
- Develops processes to ensure data is clean and usable
- Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it
- Collaborates with research and analytics staff to map data required for predictive models, data visualizations, and data analysis
- Deploys data models to production in partnership with the Office of Data Analytics team
- Designs data integrations and data quality framework
- Develops and maintains data dictionary
- Creates scripts to improve data entry efficiency within key data systems
- Partners with key community stakeholders and consultants to enhance the district’s data sources
- Leverages data controls to maintain data privacy, security, compliance, and quality for allocated areas of ownership
- Partners with the Department of Technology to ensure the performance of SQL server cluster and other relevant technological systems
- Develops and maintains technical documentation of district data ETL processes and database architecture
