Summary
PSI is seeking an experienced proposal writer to develop winning service-based proposals in the testing and assessment market. This individual will work closely with the Sr. Manager, Proposal Development and will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing proposals that are compliant with RFP requirements. The ideal candidate is excited by the prospect of learning a complex business and developing winning messages for unique customer bases. You should be flexible, adaptable, creative, and extremely driven. Our portfolio of services is growing quickly, and our RFP volume is high – someone who will tackle the workload with organization and enthusiasm is a necessity.
This position may be based out of our office in Glendale, CA or Olathe, KS.

- Adaptable - You thrive in fast-paced environments. You can adapt quickly to change such as sudden shifts in workload or schedule, which can occasionally require working non-traditional hours (evenings or weekends) to meet proposal deadlines.
- Big Fan of Checklists - When faced with an RFP that has a large amount of requirements and unique requests, you immediately start organizing and establishing a game plan for your project.
- Typos Drive You Crazy - You hold your writing to a high standard. You find typos, poor grammar, and inconsistent formatting unacceptable.
- Deadline Driven and Can Handle Time Pressures - You are a self-starter and manage your work and deadlines independently. You do what is necessary to get your projects done when promised.
- Team Player - You are willing to cross train and can jump in to help when a team member is in need.
- Experienced - You have at least three (3) years of experience writing proposals, grants, or other similar technical/business writing. Ideally, this experience was in federal, government, or other highly regulated entities.
- Educated - You've ideally earned a degree in Marketing, English, Communications or Journalism.
This is what you've done.
- Developed Proposals from Start to Finish -You have read RFPs, RFIs, and technical questionnaires and determined the necessary response requirements. You have worked with SMEs to gather information. You have developed competitive proposal responses that are client-focused with clear win themes. You have prepared electronic and hardcopy proposals to include creating and bookmarking PDF files, compiling support documentation, printing and assembling materials, etc.
- Worked with a Content Library But Also Wrote Custom Content - You've worked with proposal templates (boilerplate language) and maintained a library of content. You have also adapted that standard language and created new content for a custom proposal that addresses the specific requirements for each opportunity.
- Managed Multiple Projects and Deadlines - You have worked on multiple proposals at once and managed processes and deadlines effectively.
- Computer Skills - You have above average skill with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint). You ideally have experience with proposal development software and database management tools (Qvidian and Salesforce preferred).
