EHS Coordinator
Job Summary:
This employee will have plant responsibilities for Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk Management matters and affairs. Conducts inspection of plant and equipment to identify, evaluate' and control hazards or conditions, which might cause accidents, environmental incidents or violate Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Regulations. Serves as EHS leader for the advancement of the Plant EHS Program and the prevention of plant injuries and environmental incidents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads corporate driven EHS program with Hands On -On the Floor approach.
- Monitors Plant KPI’s EHS costs and leads charge to reduce EHS KPI’s and lower EHS cost (waste, accidents, etc.)
- Investigates accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents in the Plant and helps plant management develop corrective actions.
- Implements and monitors EHS procedures, policies and seeks out improvements to control safety and environmental hazards. (Lockout, Hazardous Communication, PPE, Hearing, SPPC, Storm Water Plans as examples)
- Report and manage WC claims with insurance companies.
- Represents management at Company Safety Meeting along with the other Plant personnel. Serves as liaison between management and Production and Maintenance employees in the daily administration of the Safety Program.
- Performs job hazard analysis on machinery, equipment, operations, and plant areas looking for hazards; recommends actions to correct/eliminate conditions which could create hazards to employes or violate OSHA Standards. Performs monthly clean up and safety inspections and compiles and distributes applicable reports.
- Coordinates the correction of potential OSHA safety violations with Managers/Supervisors, Plant Engineering, & Maintenance.
- Accompanies the OSHA and EPA compliance officers with the Plant Manager or their representative on the inspection of the Plant.
- Prepares, schedules, and conducts training classes for hourly and supervisory employees on all aspects of EHS training in the plant.
- Creates and tracks corrective action plans/projects to improve safety and environmental results.
- Maintains all EHS and EHS Training records in accordance with ISO 9002 requirements.
- Orders EHS supplies, materials, signs banners, posters, etc., with approval of the Plant Manager.
- Performs Environmental, Safety and Hygiene tests, audits, and reporting as required.
- Performs additional safety duties as directed by the Manager for the effective management of the Plant EHS Program.
- The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/science discipline, industrial hygiene, chemistry, or related field is required.
2. Certification: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required; 7 years preferred.
3. Preferred certifications: CHMM, CSP.
4. Valid driver's license required.
