Job Description The PCAOB has a full-time, regular position for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer in the Office of Data, Security and Technology (ODST) at its Ashburn, VA location. This position will report to the Manager, Data and Analytics. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will have direct oversight and accountability of data visualization systems including data warehouses, data marts, and models needed for business, financial, and operational analysis and/or reporting. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will conduct data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis. In addition, they will use scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, visual, and verbal narrative products, enabling more informed analytic decisions. This position will partner closely with various stakeholders outside of the core team, including but not limited to other technical specialists, project owners, project managers, and business stakeholders. Responsibilities Responsible for the full development lifecycle of Power Bi reports and Dashboards. Lead the BI work and collaborate with various cross-functional IT specialists in implementing solutions. Develop dashboards using Microsoft Power BI tool suite and related technologies. Work closely with team members and business stakeholders to gather and validate requirements, drive out technical issues, and model solutions that meet the functional and technical requirements. Interact with application development, enterprise architecture, business intelligence, technology services, and vendors on a regular basis to meet all requirements for successful implementation of reports and dashboards. Translate technical concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences. Actively promote and ensure adherence to internally defined SDLC practices. Lead and recommend changes to established coding standards to ensure compliance. Provide meaningful feedback and coaching for other team members on the use of Microsoft Power BI and related technologies. Perform other job duties and responsibilities as required. Qualifications Education/Technical Expertise Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related Engineering field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in business intelligence development. Minimum of 5 years of experience implementing Power BI dashboards with on premise and cloud data sources. Strong proficiency with data visualization related technologies such as Power BI, Qlik, and Tableau. Experience data querying through use of languages such as SQL and Python. Experience in design thinking and solutions approach in various domains of architecture associated with data visualization and analysis technologies. Experience in dashboard design/implementation, reporting, self-service BI, data KPIs, and scorecards. Experience with integrating data from multiple data sources. Experience with one or more data technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Azure SQL, Informatica) and a willingness to learn how to leverage these technologies to improve business intelligence. Ability to understand multiple data systems (e.g., OLTP, data mart, and reporting systems) and propose solutions. Strong understanding of ETL, data structures, data flow, data patterns, and data governance. Strong algorithmic thinking and independent research ability. Working knowledge of software design patterns, Scrum framework, and various other methodologies. Solid business and organizational skills and leadership in the use of data analysis and design tools and methodologies. Occasional travel to the PCAOB’s Washington, DC office or other regional offices as required.
