SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing and safeguarding the maintenance of PUBLIC’s assets, financial reporting and for the management of the hotel’s finance function.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

- Ensure appropriate and effective focus on activities of the Finance team on a day to day basis, while contributing to and supporting the strategic development of the hotel.
- Prepare and distribute accurate and timely financial information, which includes the preparation of the monthly financial statements, annual budgets, short-term forecasts, internal and external reports and other financial reports, as required.
- Maintain a balance sheet that clearly states all assets and liabilities, including daily bank account maintenance.
- Explain variances on financial statements.
- Produce labor reports and generate payroll reports to all hotel department management.
- Interact with local agencies to address tax matters.
- Oversee year-end audit and ensure compliance.
- Undertake regular internal inspections to ensure company’s assets are well maintained and protected.
- Establish annual budget aligned with ownership and key stakeholders at hotel.
- Prepare and deliver profit and loss statements monthly and take the lead to explain any variances as well as monthly forecasts.
- Establish financial strategy, SOP’s, and lead compliance for hotel and ensure all departments are held accountable.
- Report on and ensure budgeting guidelines are adhered to for staffing, labor, overtime, etc.
- Ensure capital expenditures are submitted annually and executed according to approved budgeted items and time frames.
- Negotiate, review, and monitor all hotel contracts.
- Prepare, review, and submit all reports as required by regulatory agencies.
- Review analysts of financial reports and make recommendations to ownership and senior leadership to maximize profit and manage costs.
- Monitor performance and development of team members, including review of disciplinary actions, recommendations for suspension or termination as well as the performance review process. Manage compensation and benefits programs.
- Establish and implement recruitment, selection, placement and pre-employment procedure in accordance with our company policies.
- Oversee all cash handling, banks, and other related SOPs are followed.
- Oversee the payroll process and assist where necessary.
- Provide leadership and assist the accounts receivable and accounts payable team members where necessary.
- Prepares required reports for Corporate and Legal.
- Ensure that PUBLIC reporting procedures are aligned with applicable SOP.
- Ensure compliance with all hotel policies and procedures at all levels.
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Maintain a high level of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and late hours when necessary.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to always maintain a positive and professional demeanor and composure.
- Ability to be friendly, engaging, gracious and the ability to focus and connect with all guests and team members and exceed their expectations.
- Know how to participate in a team environment and assist other departments when needed, providing lateral service.
- All other responsibilities, tasks and special projects as assigned by leadership.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of four years’ finance experience in a luxury services environment
- A comprehensive, working knowledge of hospitality business finance
- Computer literacy to include, but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with hospitality POS and/or PMS systems preferred
- Ability to comprehend, read, write and speak English fluently
