What are the responsibilities and job description for the Midweight Designer position at Publicis Groupe?
Company Description
As an agency, we work with people we believe in to make work the world can believe in, combining scientific rigour with creative magic to help professionals in the health and wellness space achieve fame for their brands in everything from aesthetics, supplements, and fertility, to endocrinology, dermatology, and oncology. That’s the what, but the how is guided by four defining principles – curious, creative, discerning, brave. These are the values we look for and nurture in others and ourselves, underpinning as they do a culture of collaborative entrepreneurialism that drives high-performance.
Job Description
We’re looking for someone who’s looking for something. Someone who’s not quite content with where they are and what they’ve got. Someone who spends their time dreaming, making, doing, building, creating. Someone with the intelligence to think, challenge, and push things into unexpected places, without pushing people into unpleasant places. We’re looking for someone who can produce work that looks and feels like it’s been designed by a designer, not monkeyed by a monkey. Someone who doesn’t believe rules are absolute or good enough is good enough. Someone who doesn’t really like advertising, but can’t help loving it just a little. We’re looking for someone special. Maybe that someone is you?
As a Designer, you will join our growing and vibrant Creative department, a team with exacting standards and high ambition where every job is seen as an opportunity to excel. Working with Art Directors and other Designers, you will be responsible for transforming initial concepts into outstanding through-the-line communication.
We’ll be looking for a varied portfolio of work that demonstrates great attention to detail and well-developed craft skills. Strong typography is a given, as is a clear passion for communication in general, and advertising in particular.
There is an ever-increasing emphasis on digital channels, providing significant new opportunities in the sector. Although not specifically digitally-focused, candidates who bring design experience in this space are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
A degree or further education qualification in art, graphic design or visual communication is expected but is not essential, as the right candidate will be able to sell themselves on their portfolio alone.
As a conceptual thinker, you’ll have a solid grounding in visual communications – and a strong understanding of typography, the principles of layout and user experience. You’ll be experienced in using the Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) with an understanding of usability and interaction design – and experience handling pitch documents in PowerPoint or Keynote. If you happen to have experience in coding (HTML or CSS), Sketch/XD, motion graphics (Cinema 4D, After Effects or Premier Pro) or 3D modelling and rendering – then that’d be a bonus. You’ll also have a keen eye for detail and be a great communicator too. In terms of your portfolio, we’re looking to see a strong, varied range of both print and digital work.
We are looking for a Designer that is able to go beyond the brief and bring a sense of urgency and ownership to every project they work on.
