POLICE LIEUTENANT ADMINSTRATIVE SERVICES
Primary Position Purpose:
The Administrative Lieutenant will report directly to the Major. They will maintain strict confidentiality with their job function and scope of authority. The Admin Lieutenant will oversee the operation of evidence, special projects, fleet operations, internal affairs, and coordinate with supervisory officers in the development of special program(s) and special assignment(s). Base annual salary of $77,846.40 / $37.42 per hour.
Primary Duties:
- Special projects development
- Fleet supervision, maintenance, and compliance
- Oversee evidence section for proper use and submission
- Internal Affairs Investigations
- Policy development and implementation
- Investigation of complaints of field and civilian personnel
- ALPR Installation and Support
- Handles inspections of field personnel and equipment
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills
- Work overtime as needed through the discretion of Chief of Police
- Tech projects, implementation and maintenance
- Facilitate relationships with vendors for business opportunities
- Provide training and guidance to employees concerning the use of implemented and future technologies in practice or after future adoption.
- Makes recommendations to the Major concerning the dismissal, commendation, or discipline of staff
- Supervise Dispatch
- Supervise Records
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge Required:
- Must be well versed in all aspects of tribal and state law enforcement policies and procedures
- Must have good communication and people skills
- Experience working in a tribal government setting is an asset
- Must have experience in tech services directly related to law enforcement
o ALPR o TraCS o WatchGuard o FLEX / Spillman o LEADS / VPN o ZOOM / TEAMS
Supervisory Controls:
The Administrative Lieutenant reports directly to the Major. Work is performed under minimal supervision in an office setting and also in a police unit. May provide staff assistance if needed. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am through 4 pm.
Guidelines:
Guidelines include Pueblo of Pojoaque standard operating procedures, Tribal Policies and Procedures handbook, experience as well as practical knowledge of state, federal and tribal law and enforcement codes
Personal Contacts:
Internal contacts include the civilian employees, Chief of Police, Major, Lieutenants, Sergeants, and other
Police Officers. External contacts include the tribal membership and external law enforcement agencies, along with vendors and contractors.
Purpose of Personal Contacts:
Purpose of internal contacts is for general guidance and supervision. The purpose of the external contacts is to maintain an effective relationship with tribal membership, the general public and outside law enforcement agencies while maintaining public order and enforcing laws and ordinances. The purpose of external contact maintain an effective relationship for the continued support and expansion of technological programs.
Physical Demands:
Position will require incumbent to be in good physical condition and overall health. Must follow all safety policies and procedures.
Work Environment/Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office setting and also on patrol in a tribal police unit. This position involves working under stressful conditions.
Job Related Qualification Standards:
- Must be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent
- Must have at least ten (10) years of law enforcement experience with progressive responsibility
- Must have five (5) years command supervisory experience
- Must possess a valid New Mexico operator’s license and have a satisfactory drivers record
- Must have a clear criminal record and never have been convicted of a felony crime
- Able to pass a complete physical examination
- Must possess good human relation skills
- Must be drug free
- Must possess emotional and mental stability
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must be able to demonstrate a vast array of technological skill
- Must have advanced computer skills using MS Office and email
- Must be able to operate without supervision
- Much be willing to work various hours, to include, weekends, nights, or unscheduled overtime
- Currently certified law enforcement personnel, State, BIA, or out of state
