We are currently seeking for an Intermediate or Senior Protection and Control Design Engineer for our Power Division. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. The job will require the candidate to work either remotely, or from an assigned local Tetra Tech office to be determined based on the location of the candidate.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide engineering/design/analysis services in the area of protection relay facilities and services.
  • Review and prepare design documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with technical requirements.
  • Review existing P&C protection relay designs, work methods standards, etc., updating and preparing new documented design standards, recognizing opportunities for introduction of new technology and recommend changes to reduce costs and increase productivity. 
  • Provide expert technical leadership to client with respect to testing of protection relay systems and other ancillary equipment.
  • Perform protective relay calculations, create protective relay settings files, and coordination for up to 500kV substations and transmission lines.
  • Ensure work is executed in accordance with sound engineering principles, the Project Execution Plan, Project Engineering Plan, the contract, and the established QA procedures and practices in place.
  • Manage designs and deliverables of other designers, reviewing their engineering designs for accuracy, quality and compliance.
  • Prepare proposal writeups and estimates based on client Request for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Develop, approve, and co-ordinates work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met.
  • Provide a broad range of expert protection technical expertise and/or knowledge in the design, construction, installation, reliability analysis, commissioning, implementation, and maintenance of protection and control technologies.

 

Requirements:
 

  • A University degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Over 7 years of working experience in in engineering specification and design of Protection, Control and Metering systems, including technical specifications, I/O lists, panel electrical drawings,  Single Line Diagrams (SLD), Ac and DC electrical schematics, system control architecture, communication network, relay logics and programming, etc.
  • Possess a PE or FE license and is experienced in taking responsibility and signing design deliverables.
  • Possess experience working in brownfield and greenfield projects with utilities providing services in transmission and distribution.
  • Experience in Power Station SCADA, RTU’s and Substation LAN & Automation is considered an asset.
  • The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the design of renewable energy facilities such as solar and wind farms.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills (client relations, team project communications, and proposal and report development).
