Senior Field Estimator

JOB SUMMARY: Primarily responsible for being the conduit between the procurement group and field execution. Manage contracts for key trade categories. This includes estimating for new communities/product, documenting plan and quantity errors, verifying material usages and plan adherence in field execution, and associated contracting and vendor management. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Be a liaison between field construction operations and Procurement. - Review all EPO activity related to homes under construction to understand and identify trends, for takeoff and contract opportunities. Update contracts as necessary based on research. Develop processes for and lead training of material management initiatives to ensure teams are equipped to manage materials properly. Walk job sites to identify areas of spend that can be reduced/eliminated through proper installation, purchasing, quantification, etc. of materials. - Check all completed estimates through field verifications, focusing on accurate quantities - Coordinate with external Architectural and Engineering consults to address alignment of plans with engineering and identify value engineering opportunities. - Coordinate with Zone, Division purchasing personnel and trade partners as needed Assist in quantity related negotiations with trade base - Communicate assigned project schedules weekly with teams - Manage contracts for key trade categories SCOPE: (Decision making, size of organization, budgetary, etc.) - Decision Impact: Department - Department Responsibility: Single - Budgetary Responsibility: No - Direct Reports: No - Indirect Reports: No REQUIRED EDUCATION: (Degree, licenses, certifications, etc.) - Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent work experience - Valid Driver’s License because driving is an essential function of this position. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (Work related, tools/equipment, software, etc.) - Related Functional Experience: Minimum 2 years construction field experience - Comprehensive knowledge of residential construction techniques, construction documents, building codes as well as technical and procedural knowledge of activities related to home building construction, including understanding plans & specs.
